Swan Lake

Swan Lake is a romantic ballet in four acts, composed by Tchaikovsky between 1875 and 1876. The story is based on a German fairy tale, and is about Prince Siegfried who falls in love with the Swan Queen, Odette.

The story involves themes of love, betrayal, and the struggle between good and evil. Odette and her companions are transformed into swans by the evil sorcerer Baron von Rothbart. The curse can only be broken by someone who has never loved before and who pledges undying love to Odette.

The ballet is popular for its representation of good versus evil, depicted through two opposing swans: the White Swan and the Black Swan.

The Royal Opera House describes Swan Lake as "classical ballet's most powerful tale of love, treachery and forgiveness".

We will be dancing to a modified version of Swan Lake during our Studio production May 31, 2024 and selected excepts for theater production on June 2, 2023
